    Position summary

    esting, collaborate with our passionate Cadillac F1 team, and play a key role in transferring invaluable knowledge from the racetrack to other GM Motorsports race series.

    In this ever-evolving environment, you'll work with innovative testing and analytical technologies to explore tire force and moment (F&M) properties, enabling the virtual integration of tire performance into vehicle dynamics simulations for original equipment applications.     Joining the GM Motorsports Organization will provide you with the experience and exposure it takes to build and maintain successful race teams and the opportunity to showcase your vehicle dynamics and simulation skills, contribute to innovation, connect lessons learned in racing to production intent vehicles, work cross functionally with our partners and ultimately, help shape the future of Motorsports!

    What You'll Do

    • Develop innovative methods to process, review, and qualify tire test data.

    • Attend and actively support Driver Simulation sessions.

    • Participate in Tire Testing activities where available.

    • Create models representative of tire test data (F&M Flat Track and any permissible vehicle testing).

    • Scale and synthesize models based on feedback from secondary data sources.

    • Create extensive enhancements to advanced tire models, tools, and methodologies.

    • Facilitate the transfer of tire testing and modeling technology to other applications.

    • Support the integration of tire models with real-time simulation environments.

    • Domestic and international travel is required, averaging 1-2 times per month for 2-days at a time. Tire testing typically occurs during the week, with limited weekend travel necessary to reach test facilities. Full details will be discussed during the interview process.

    • Keep Director/Manager and partner organization in the UK informed of assignment status, timing, and technical issues.

    • Document work completed.

    • Actively identify new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities.

    • Ensure high quality, on time completion of tasks.

    • Independently create/manage complex project plans.

    • Mentor less experienced engineers.

    • Support lessons learned through updating Best Practices and learning sessions.

    • Proactively communicate effectively with all stakeholders.

    • Apply lessons learned to future program involvement.

    Additional Description

    What You'll Need (Required Qualifications)

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, CAE, or Software Engineering or related field

    • 10+ years of engineering experience or completion of an advanced degree

    • 7-10 years of Formula 1 or Professional Motorsports experience is required

    • Vehicle dynamics and simulation experience

    • MATLAB or Python coding for modeling and analysis

    • Motorsport data acquisition software

    • Demonstrated ability to energize and lead a team, collaborate cross-functionally, as well as work independently

    • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time domestically and internationally

    • This job may be eligible for relocation benefits

    • Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

    What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

    • Master's or PhD in the field of Math or Science

    • Prior F1 Experience

    • Proven track record of leadership experience

    • Knowledge of tire model fitting routines from Flat-Trac and WFT data

    • Pi Toolbox experience

    • Experience implementing tire models in real-time simulation environments to support Driver-in-the-Loop and offline simulation work
