    Position summary

    d expertise in Controls and Software with great attention to detail. The selected candidate will develop controls and diagnostics within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), using appropriate common methods for VMEC features and support the growth capability of controls and diagnostic methods to keep General Motors at the forefront of technology.

    Additional Description

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement control and diagnostic algorithms for various vehicle features and systems in Brake controls using either Model Based coding (MATLAB) or C/C++.

    • Help define calibration strategies and promote hand code practices in controls and SW implementation.

    • Ensure compliance to safety and government regulations while developing GM-internal best practices.

    • Strong ability to interpret system requirements and translate it control and SW strategies.

    • Design and manage key strategic interfaces within systems to enable component reuse and consistency to standard methodologies.

    • Provide support to other specialists for root cause analysis.

    • Define software unit tests, HIL (Hardware in the loop), and vehicle tests from customer's expectations and system requirements

    • Meet higher level physics-based requirements with efficient designs using modeling, simulation, data collection, and analysis.

    • Support resolution of vehicle, plant, or customer issues related to controls and calibration

    • Help build tools, libraries, and training material to enable capability growth and support learning of the team.

    • Collaborate with other teams to define and integrate components, check functionality on the bench and in the vehicle.

    • Strong ability to expertly capture and analyze empirical data to verify system performance.

    • Participate in the relevant Team and Program Events: Program Increment Planning, DSU (Daily Stand Up), Iteration Reviews, ART Inspection and Adapt sessions etc.

    • Works cross-functionally with System Engineers, Software Engineers, Feature/Function Engineers, Calibrators, Product Owner/Scrum Leader to ensure robust design.

    • Mentor new employees to help increase capabilities and share knowledge

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    • Travel as required

    Minimum Required Skills and Experience:

    • BS in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or equivalent degree.

    • Minimum 5+ years Engineering experience related to embedded controls and/or controls/software development.

    • Knowledge of Electrification and diagnostics

    • Understanding of Embedded Controls Development & Delivery Process

    • Skilled with Software coding (C-language), Simulink, MATLAB, DOORS, GIT environment(s); plant modeling and/or analysis tools.

    • Proficiency with control system theory and application to embedded systems including state space feedback control, adaptive control, and model predictive control (or equivalent).

    • Strong partnership and teamwork skills, with demonstrated ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment with sometimes incomplete requirements.

    • High level of analytical problem-solving skills where problems are unusual and difficult.

    • Ability to Participate in cross-functional scrum teams while demonstrating high level of collaboration and negotiation.

    • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed.

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and assignments with autonomy and accountability for results.

    • Consistent demonstration of innovative thinking that is customer-centric

    Preferred Skills:

    • MS in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or equivalent degree.

    • In-depth knowledge of algorithm/software development and calibration of vehicle motion controls.

    • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamic systems especially brake systems.

    • Experience in plant modeling and analysis tools, MIL, SIL, HIL Testing

    • Knowledge of Vehicle Energy Transfer; AC/DC Charging features

    • Vehicle Propulsion, Brake Control, Chassis Control and Battery High Voltage, Vehicle Energy Transfer, Charging and Automotive System knowledge is a plus.
