uality Engineer** , you will work directly with VAA and GM support organizations to resolve quality issues identified at the VAA. You will also provide general oversight and guidance for quality operations and process controls within the VAA manufacturing systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high quality supplied assemblies to the GM Orion Assembly plant.
What You'll Do:
Be the liaison between the VAA, assembly plant, engineering, and suppliers to ensure vehicle quality and reliability
Follow all Site Safety guidelines
Urgently resolve *S Safety and ergonomic issues
Attain Red X certification
Lead and coach Red X problem solving methodologies for VAA team
Monitor, coach, and develop VAA organization for applicable BIQ and GMS requirements
Participate in ISO, BIQ, and other quality audits
Identify and drive problem solving to eliminate internal quality issues originating at VAA
Support yard sweeps and develop inspection methods/standards for VAA issues
Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified VAA spills
Drive timely containment/correction of quality issues originating at VAA
Proactively review/audit VAA standardized work, PFMEAs, and PCPs to identify and reduce/eliminate risk within VAA processes
Participate and drive VAA quality improvement through CPIT meetings and process
Participate in the assembly plant Change Management Process
Communicate Emerging Issues summaries for VAA originated issues
Ensure incoming Supplier Quality issues are identified, documented in Supplier Practical Problem-Solving system, and addressed by responsible Quality Engineer
Facilitate supplier visits to VAA facility to enable resolution of Supplier Quality issues
Ensure timely Suspect Reject part disposition at VAA by Quality Engineering team
Request Temporary Work Orders from engineers as required to support VAA and assembly plant
Support the PTR Process, documenting product concerns and providing Pass/Fail feedback for VAA
Communicate VAA Lessons Learned to SMTs and validation teams
Support VAA launch activities for future programs beginning with first Manufacturing Build
Assure VAA representative attendance at 5F, Care, GCA, and quality reviews as needed
Support DRR/DRL improvement initiatives for VAA originating issues
Ensure assigned PRTS issues completed through Root Cause and ICA according to published targets
Attend Quality Engineering team standard meetings
Support timely resolution of supplier and engineering related ergonomics and quality issues impacting VAA operations
Drive assigned Warranty Reduction initiatives
Document associated VAA cost for recovery associated with supplier quality issues
Champion cost reduction opportunities identified at VAA
Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
5+ years experience in manufacturing
Bachelor's in engineering related discipline or equivalent experience
Highly developed oral and written communication skills
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Knowledge of manufacturing processes
Managerial courage
Customer focus
Strong decision-making ability
Ability to build effective teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate level degree in engineering or technical background
Team management experience
Quality Engineering experience
Supplier Quality experience
Red X Technical Problem Solving certification
Manufacturing production floor experience
Body Dimensional, GD&T, and Part Data Analysis capability
