    Position summary

    optimization of data pipelines and infrastructure that power analytics, reporting, and machine learning across the organization.

    Reporting directly to the SVP of Data Science & Analytics, you will lead a team of Data Engineers and serve as the de facto Lead Data Engineer. You'll collaborate closely with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders in Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Product to ensure our data systems are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business goals.

    This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building data systems that unlock business value.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Architect and scale our data engineering stack, including ETL/ELT pipelines, transformation workflows, and compute infrastructure across cloud platforms.
    • Lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
    • Own the ingestion and integration of new data sources, ensuring they are modeled for downstream analytics, reporting, and machine learning use cases.
    • Partner with Analytics and Business teams to define requirements and deliver a robust internal data mart that supports self-service reporting and advanced analytics.
    • Collaborate with Data Science to deploy and maintain machine learning models in production, including MLOps, monitoring, and governance.
    • Implement and enforce data quality, observability, and governance standards across all pipelines and data assets.
    • Drive innovation and efficiency by identifying opportunities to improve data architecture, tooling, and team processes.
    • Support strategic initiatives through data-driven insights, ad hoc analysis, and cross-functional collaboration

    What you'll need:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or analytics, with a strong track record of technical leadership.
    • Minimum of 2+ years of experience managing or mentoring technical teams in an Agile environment.
    • Deep expertise in cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric).
    • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience building scalable data pipelines and transformation workflows.
    • Hands-on experience with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Delta Lake) and large-scale data processing.
    • Familiarity with modern BI tools, especially Power BI, including data modeling and dashboard development.
    • Experience supporting machine learning workflows, including MLOps tools like MLflow or Weights & Biases.
    • Familiarity with setting up continuous integration and deployment workflows for data pipelines (e.g., using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins).
    • Experience with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Azure Data Factory for managing complex data workflows.
    • Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (e.g., pull requests, code reviews).
    • Understanding of data security best practices preferred, including encryption, access control, and compliance with regulations like HIPAA or GDP
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
    • A passion for data, curiosity for solving complex problems, and a drive to create business impact through technology.

    Additional Details:

    At Health-E Commerce, our goal is to provide an offer that supports growth potential within the role and allows for future salary progression. Final compensation is evaluated on various factors which include but aren't limited to experience, skills, internal equity among peers, and geographic location.

    • Compensation: $150,000 -180,000
    • Discretionary Annual Bonus Eligibility: Up to 15%
