JOB OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for operating one or more Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machines in the production of high-precision small parts and cutting instruments . Included in this role is the setting up the machines, the creation of part profiles and shapes , the placement of specific features, and the cut ting or sharpening of instrument teeth meeting final specification s . This position may include working morning s , afternoon s, nights and weekends according to business needs .
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reads print s and job order s for determining product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be machined , and tooling instructions such as grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used
Operates precision CNC machines to create products meeting required dimensions
Inspects and measures parts created to ensure specifications are achieved
Maintains job routing information and completes sign-offs as required
Performs other related production tasks during available time
Performs routine maintenance, lubrication and replacement o f worn parts on machines in coordination with maintenance personnel
Informs the subsequent shift operator of the production status of the current shift
Keeps work area clean an d free of oil and other residue
Other tasks as assigned by the Manager
WORK EXPERIENCE:
One year of rela ted experience and/or training, or equivalent combinat ion of education and experience preferred
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required
C ertificate fr om college or technical school specific to CNC Machine Operation a plus
Experience with Amada Laser a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKI LLS & COMPETENCIES:
Ability to read, understand and perform standard procedures and work instructions
Intermediate mecha nical skills required
Intermediate math and logic skills required
Intermediate computer s kills and software use experience required
TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel - typically not required
Position typically works in a manufacturing environment on site where environmental conditions are stable. May be exposed to higher levels of noise typical in a manufacturing environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, and operate manual and non-manual machinery; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, stretch and lift up to 20 pounds
Position requires that the employee use eye protection at all times while working
