    Position summary

    14 countries spread across 6 continents, with 42,000+ employees from over 80+ nationalities. Role Context: Client has established Data Management as one of its strategic initiatives. The Data Services function is the center of excellence for managing core business data such as security reference, pricing, analytics, account, index, issuer, etc. across the business functions and applications. The role will include day-to-day index data management, index on-boarding and involvement in Projects.
    To work as a member of the Index Data Management Team which is part of Data Vendor Management within Data Services Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

    • To maintain the timeliness and integrity of core business data with particular emphasis on index data. Indices are critical to investment management, performance attribution, risk management and portfolio monitoring. This will involve taking ownership and responsibility for certain processes including the investigation and resolution of incidents.

    • To oversee the daily production and delivery of index data to our data consumers, ensuring that all data has been delivered and that any issues have been flagged up, escalated and resolved.

    • To take an active role in on-boarding new indices and new consumers to our strategic data distribution platform. To perform data quality checks to ensure that new indices are complete, accurate and timely in target systems.

    • To work closely with our Vendor Management team in working with our index data vendors, including creating, agreeing and monitoring service levels and tracking open incidents, requests and queries.

    • To understand the business use of index data including custom indices, carve-outs and composite blends; to work closely with the investment teams and other consumers and deal with any data queries and issues.

    • To gather and create management information data on the usage of index data across the business.

    • Creating procedures that reflect processes, policies and workflows that are needed to support the distribution and maintenance of index data.

    • To act as one of the Index Data subject matter experts to our internal data consumers and stakeholders.

    • To gather and create management information data on the usage of index data across the business.

    • To gather, analyze and communicate requirements from consumers worldwide and help prioritize the development.

    • To assist in building out our Master Data Management System to master, validate and distribute index data across.

    • To support Data Services in becoming a global team, ensuring that cross-training takes place and that coverage exists to support BAU activities outside of London hours.

    Essential Criteria:

    • Bachelor's degree or master's Degree (or equivalent)
    • Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience in Index Operations
    • Good understanding of index data, index data providers, index composition and index feed file types
    • Good understanding of index valuation types and calculating index returns
    • Good understanding of performance measurement, performance attribution and performance reporting
    • Good understanding of market data and reference data spanning equities and fixed income; this will include instrument identification, industrial classifications, pricing and corporate events
    • Understanding of emerging trends in ESG and alternative dataset
    • Understanding of currency hedging
    • A background in investment management data or financial data management
    • Proactive problem solver who takes responsibility for finding a solution and for driving continuous improvement
    • Proficient with MS Excel, file handling tools and SQL
    • Excellent time management skills
    • Calm under pressure
    • Willing to start the day at 8am
