Primary responsibilities include management of a team of accountants, consisting of managers and staff, and responsibility for financial accounting, reporting, analysis, and supporting business partners throughout Invitation Homes with respect to accounting-related matters. Additionally, the Controller will support the creation and maintenance of overall departmental policies and lead ad hoc projects that support both accounting and, in some cases, company-wide financial reporting needs and process improvements/efficiencies. This role interacts heavily with various operational and corporate teams across the Company.
E s s ent ia l Job Duti e s a nd Res p on s i b i l i ti e s
Manage the day-to-day activities of staff to execute assigned financial accounting reporting activities, complete monthly and quarterly accounting closes for the general ledger system, and provide managerial reporting and analysis.
Perform in-depth financial reviews for Invitation Homes' owned and managed portfolios of homes.
Manage and develop a team of accountants, including staff development through identifying, onboarding, training, and mentoring talent.
Partner with accounting and other business partners to provide system and analytical support.
Develop and maintain relationships with various business unit leaders across the organization.
Establish and maintain systems and internal accounting controls to verify the integrity of the Company's accounting, systems, processes, data, and financial reporting.
Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
Identify areas for process improvement and take the initiative to develop and implement enhancements in coordination with the rest of the Accounting team.
Prioritize and perform special projects and other tasks as assigned.
Exhibit proficiency with the Company's general ledger and operational systems (primarily, Yardi Voyager and Salesforce).

Bachelor's degree is required for this position. MBA or Master's in Accounting preferred.
Minimum of ten years' experience in accounting.
Minimum of five years' supervisory experience.
Public accounting experience highly preferred.
Real estate industry experience is a plus.
Yardi experience is preferred.

Required Licenses or Certifications
CPA designation is preferred for this position.

$98,775.00 - $171,210.00
