    Position summary

You will collaborate closely with the Leiden site and the Global Process Science Modeling & Data teams to demonstrate the potential of model-based feedback control in revolutionizing cell culture processes.

    Join us in shaping the future of biologics manufacturing and advancing the next generation of cell culture technologies!

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design mechanistic models to accurately capture the behavior of various cell lines in cell culture processes

    • Infer key model parameters' values from data

    • Design a model-based feedback control loop to dynamically optimize critical process parameters in real-time under hard and soft constraints

    • Partner with industry and academia to validate the developed models and control strategy

    • Work multi-functionally with internal teams to efficiently implement the designed control strategy

    • Present findings and innovations at internal meetings and external scientific conferences

    Qualifications

    • PhD in a STEM field (e.g. Chemical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or other relevant subject area)

    • A strong background in mechanistic modeling and optimization techniques

    • A strong background in model-based process control and state estimation techniques

    • Proficiency in scientific programming with Python and familiarity with Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tools and sensors

    • Familiarity with Bayesian modeling is a plus

    • Previous exposure to cell culture manufacturing in a pharmaceutical setting is a plus

    • Outstanding ability to identify, analyze, and proactively and independently address potential challenges

    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills and ability to work optimally within multi-functional teams
