    Position summary

    y Responsibilities**:

    • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.

    • Coordinate and conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and site safety/environmental audits.

    • Develop, implement, and deliver EHS training programs covering topics such as safety procedures, environmental compliance, hazardous materials, and emergency response.

    • Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and manage the tracking and closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

    • Maintain and update site-specific EHS documentation, including: Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), Waste manifests, Permits and compliance records

    • Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to integrate EHS considerations into daily work processes and capital projects.

    • Serve as the site lead for all EHS initiatives and represent the site in internal and external audits and inspections.

    • Monitor regulatory changes and emerging industry trends to proactively adjust policies and procedures.

    • Oversee environmental programs, including hazardous waste management, air emissions, water discharge compliance, and sustainability initiatives.

    Basic Qualifications

    • TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related technical field.

    • 12-15 years of relevant experience in occupational safety and health; or Master's degree with 10-13 years of relevant experience.

    • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, NIOSH) and industry best practices.

    • Demonstrated experience in hazard analysis, risk assessment, and accident investigation.

    • Proven ability to develop and implement safety standards, preventive actions, and safety assurance plans across complex industrial or technical environments.

    • Expertise in industrial safety, including proper application of PPE, toxicology, radiation protection, and engineering controls.

    • Skilled in regulatory compliance management and conducting formal safety audits and procedure development.

    • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and advise executive leadership on safety and regulatory matters.

    • Ability to manage and mentor technical teams and lead initiatives with significant organizational impact.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Doctorate in Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or a closely related technical field.

    • Certification(s) from recognized safety organizations, such as:

    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

    • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)

    • Professional Engineer (P.E.) in a relevant safety discipline

    • Experience designing and integrating safety devices, engineering controls, or protective equipment in industrial or high-risk environments.

    • Background in toxicology, radiation safety, or hazardous material management.

    • Familiarity with enterprise-level EHS software platforms or safety data management systems.

    • Experience advising on or developing organizational safety policy at the program or enterprise level.

    • Prior experience working in regulated sectors such as aerospace, nuclear, defense, or chemical manufacturing.

    Pay Range:
    Pay Range $112,450.00 - $203,275.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
