Groundskeeper - Full Time

• Maintain landscaped, and naturalized areas with a high level of detail - Minor repairs to irrigation systems - Assist in fertilization, and pest and disease control programs - Weed removal from mulched beds, and selective removal from naturalized areas - Pressure washing concrete surfaces - Spraying, pruning, and harvesting a variety of fruit trees - Planting, weeding, and harvesting the kitchen vegetable garden - Removing litter, blowing hard surfaces, and general cleaning of the grounds - Operating a variety of tools and machinery including UTV's, mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, etc.

• Identify problem areas and/or deficiencies in the estate grounds and take appropriate corrective action as directed by the Regional Grounds Manager.

• Winter duties including:

  • Removal of heavy snow from trees, shrubs, and conifers
  • Removal of snow from roads, pathways, and stairs throughout the estate

• Winter pruning on trees and shrubs and general tidying of the grounds and residences

Skills & Experience Needed:

• Completion of a university or college program in horticulture, or related field is an asset

• 2+ years landscaping, horticulture, or property maintenance experience

• Plant identification knowledge, or willingness to learn

• Solid understanding landscaping techniques and irrigation maintenance

• Ability to identify pests, diseases, and deficiencies for lawns, shrubs, and trees

• Organized with strong problem-solving skills

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Team player, Self-Starter

• Physically able to perform the requirements of the job

• Valid Driver's license

• Ability to work a flexible working schedule to cover demands of the business
