Position Summary
Operate a yard tractor to safely move trailers within the distribution center yard. This role focuses on trailer movement, door spotting, and supporting warehouse flow - no over-the-road driving required.
Key Responsibilities
Operate yard truck to move trailers between dock doors and yard locations
Back trailers into assigned dock doors for loading and unloading
Hook and unhook trailers, including air/electrical lines
Perform routine yard checks and monitor trailer locations
Inspect trailers for visible damage or safety concerns and report issues
Ensure trailers are properly secured and ready for loading/unloading
Fuel yard equipment as needed
Wash and clean tractors and trailers as part of routine yard maintenance
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard
What This Role Is NOT
No over-the-road driving
No route deliveries
No product picking or order selecting
(This is strictly a yard movement position.)
Physical & Work Environment
Frequent entering/exiting of equipment
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
Walking the yard as needed to verify trailer locations
Occasional washing/cleaning of equipment
Qualifications you'll bring as a Yardspotter Teammate:
Have a High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
No Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) required.
Have accident free driving record for the past three years desired.
Be able to read and comprehend an extensive variety of related written instructions.
Be able to understand equipment ID numbering system.
Be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish the essential job functions.
Comply with company work rules and safety rules.
Insure attendance and punctuality within company standards.
Be able to lift, lower, carry, push, pull dividers and bulkheads inside trailers.
This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
