- Evaluate Product Condition: Inspect and test returned UPS systems and components to determine failure modes and operational readiness before return to factory.
- On-Call Emergency Support: Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide rapid-response emergency service when critical uptime is at risk.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain thorough service records and develop clear technical reports outlining service activities, findings, and recommendations.
- Collaborate on Improvements: Partner with engineering and other departments to recommend upgrades and service strategies that enhance system performance and reliability.
- Promote Service Offerings: Recommend maintenance plans or equipment upgrades (e.g., battery enhancements) to support long-term system investment.
- Guide and Mentor: Assist junior technicians in complex diagnostics and share best practices for field service excellence.
- Report & Reimburse: Submit accurate expense reports in a timely manner following company policy.
What You Bring:
- Education & Experience: Associate degree in Electrical/Electronics or related technical field with 4+ years of experience servicing UPS or electronic power systems—or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
- Certifications: OSHA-10 Construction and NFPA-70E certifications required.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency with electrical/electronic test equipment; strong understanding of UPS products, data center electrical infrastructure, and power system schematics.
- Analytical Skills: Advanced problem-solving and diagnostic capabilities to identify root causes and recommend actionable solutions.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing communication skills; ability to explain complex systems to non-technical users.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Valid Driver's License: Required for travel to customer sites and vehicle rentals as needed.
