Position summary

m hazard analysis (SHAs), subsystem hazard analysis (SSHAs), interface hazard analysis (IHAs), Functional Safety Analyses, and safety cases.

  • Define and Trace Requirements: Establish, analyze, and trace safety requirements from system-level to component-level across hardware, software, and operations.

  • Evaluate System Safety: Assess system designs and operational procedures for adherence to safety requirements and best practices.

  • Manage Risk: Support risk assessments, maintain hazard logs, and ensure timely resolution of safety actions.

  • Verify and Validate: Prepare and manage safety verification and validation documentation, audits, reviews, and compliance activities.

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with system engineers, software and hardware teams, testers, project managers, and suppliers to embed safety practices throughout all project phases.

  • Engage with Authorities: Interface with railway authorities and Independent Safety Assessors (ISA) for certification and regulatory processes.

  • Resolve Safety Issues: Investigate and resolve safety incidents and technical issues in coordination with subject matter experts.

  • Support Integration Activities: Lead safety efforts in system integration, including third-party equipment assessments and safety evidence aggregation.

  • Mentor and Lead: Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior safety engineers and lead safety discussions with customers and stakeholders.

  • Promote Professionalism: Represent the MEPPI Engineering Department positively in all internal and external interactions, working in a timely and cooperative manner.

What You Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Systems, Software, Safety, or a related technical field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in project engineering, system engineering, or system safety, with deep expertise in CBTC and railway signaling systems, OR equivalent education and experience

  • Industry Knowledge: Advanced understanding of rail industry safety standards and modern safety analysis methodologies.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of CBTC systems, wayside signaling, radio communication networks, vital systems, and vital software development methodologies.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to engage with customers, teams, and stakeholders.

  • Lifecycle Understanding: Advanced knowledge of system development lifecycles and related safety artifacts.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify, assess, and resolve safety-related challenges.

  • Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
