- Independently perform studies on renewable resources, distributed energy resources, battery energy storage, relay and protection, performance monitoring, and grid modernization applications utilizing CYME, Synergi, etap, Milsoft, and Plexos software tools.
- Independently manage, lead, and further projects to ensure completion within specified schedules and budgets. Independently develop, manage, and further project plans specifying goals, strategy, budget, schedule and resource assignment. Independently prepare, review, and increase effectiveness of project activity reports and communicate to stakeholders.
- Manage and lead the development, organization and analysis of data for systems studies. Leverage data mining and visualization techniques to perform data analysis, present data and ensure data integrity.
- Independently use C, C++, MATLAB, Java, Perl, Python, and others to enhance models and simulations. Manage and lead the development and testing of software tools to automate data analysis, data monitoring, reporting and ensuring data integrity.
- Increase efficiency, expand capabilities and support coworker use of software tools used in power systems engineering studies.
- Develop and land business opportunities towards achieving division objectives.
- Independently lead proposals in response to customer specifications, RFP/RFQ, and technical information requests.
- Independently lead large-scale proposals in various markets.
- Support and lead generator testing, model development, and validation to standards.
- Independently prepare, present, and support others with preparation and delivery of technical reports and presentations to internal and external customers on schedule, within quality standards, with minimal re-work, and positive internal and external feedback. Ensure consistent report quality with grammar and formatting standards.
- Achieve, enhance quality standards and set example for meeting schedules for simulation model development, analytics, and reporting. Use, lead and enhance an engineered process throughout the stages of the study.
- Represent MEPPI as an industry leader in interpretation of concepts in grid planning, interconnection, operations, equipment application, and associated history and evolution of standards, orders, guidelines, and tariffs for use in studies.
- Further teams' ability to condition models and judge simulation output based on expected system and equipment capabilities and operation. Further teams' ability to estimate system and equipment parameters based on known values, where applicable, or to provide feedback when such values are questionable.
- Independently lead studies initiatives for other MEPPI divisions/departments.
- Lead and contribute to pre-specification for T&D equipment, such as for key system design parameters.
- Independently prepare and lead technical papers and articles for publication in professional society journals and trade magazines, and for presentation at professional society meetings, industry conferences, and trade exhibitions.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of PSED through interaction with other MEPPI divisions and vendors.
- Know MEPPI's Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and their impact on work.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree: BSEE, MS/ME, or PhD (or equivalent) in electrical engineering with emphasis on electric power engineering with a minimum of 7 year of experience in the power systems studies consulting field or electric utility system planning field or with a transmission and distribution manufacturer's application engineering group, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of electric power systems and equipment operation and control.
- Advanced organizational, interpersonal, presentation, communication and technical writing skills required to communicate with customers and employees.
- Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a fast-paced business environment.
- Expertise and leadership with the following programs and modeling tools:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and related
- ATP, EMTP, EMTP-RV, PSCAD, MATLAB, ASPEN, CAPE, and CDEGS
- PSLF, PSS/E, DigSILENT, DSA Tools, Power World, and related

- Economic software like PROMOD or MAPS
- C, C++, MATLAB, Java, Perl, Python, and others
