Position summary

Collaborate Across Stakeholders: Work closely with customers, vendors, and MEPPI divisions to clarify software requirements, discuss problems, and develop effective solutions.

Support Software Development & Deployment: Utilize or modify existing software to support remote monitoring, motion control, and electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities include writing software performance specifications, partnering with third-party developers, performing software testing, and developing necessary documentation.

Manage Software Compatibility & Updates: Assess software and hardware compatibility, system upgrades, patches, and cyber-security-related needs. Coordinate configuration control and software processes across SCD and other divisions.

Evaluate Engineering Changes: Review and route Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) related to software to ensure proper implementation and compliance.
Train & Mentor Technical Teams: Develop and deliver advanced software training for field technicians and technical support staff in collaboration with SCD training personnel. Provide mentoring and technical guidance to the support team.

Participate in Product Development: Contribute to product release design reviews alongside equipment design teams to ensure software integration readiness.

Engage with Customers & Teams: Participate in customer meetings, internal teams, and special events as a software subject matter expert.

Promote Division Excellence: Further the goals and professional reputation of SCD through effective collaboration with internal departments, vendors, and customers.

What You Bring

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or a related software discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years of software development or software support experience, or equivalent education and experience

Technical Expertise:

  • Advanced knowledge of modern software tools, cloud infrastructure, networking, platforms, and open-source technologies

  • Intermediate knowledge of media packaging and encoding technologies

  • Strong understanding of software integration, troubleshooting, and cyber-security considerations

Skills & Attributes:

  • Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams

Technology Proficiency:

  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and related technical tools
