    Position summary

    of legal professionals but is a player-coach role - the right candidate will be happy performing substantive work in addition to managing and mentoring junior personnel.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee and negotiate customer commercial contracts for SaaS software and data, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.

    • Oversee, review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of other commercial agreements including software and data licenses, SaaS product subscriptions and related service level agreements, maintenance agreements, professional services agreements, subcontractor agreements, conduit agreements, referral agreements, distribution and reseller agreements, and intercompany agreements.

    • Provide legal advice and guidance on contractual matters, ensuring that risks are identified and mitigated effectively.

    • Manage and lead a small legal team, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to team members.

    • Collaborate and regularly meet with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, finance, and operations, to facilitate alignment on legal and contractual matters.

    • Able to advise on strategic matters, including regional cross border transactions and issues, as well as execute and business-as-usual type work

    • Represent and update the worldwide MA Legal team on issues/matters in the APAC region during monthly global all staff meetings.

    • Independent self-starter and issue-spotter adept at partnering with the business/operations and building relationships

    • Act as liaison with legal and compliance departments for a variety of non-contractual legal matters that arise within the APAC region

    • Stay up-to-date on relevant legal developments and work with outside counsel when required in a cost effective manner.

    • Developing and maintaining contract templates along with usage guidance notes, to support the sale of products and services to Moody's customers, while providing support to product managers, sales and services organizations in a broad range of commercial transactions.

    • Supporting and carrying out Moody's business policies and practices, including preferred contract terms and compromise positions; developing guidance documents, compliance policies such as anti- bribery, economic and trade sanctions and competition law policies

    • Navigating privacy and information security issues arising from customer sales, partnerships, and other transactions; and observing Moody's policies in the preparation and conclusion of contracts. The successful candidate must also have the ability to identify any inconsistencies and explain these policies and procedures clearly to others and provide related training.

    • Explaining corporate and legal department contracting policies and procedures clearly to others and provide related training in the APAC region to enforce consistency on a global basis.

    • Working closely with the company's other in-house lawyers, sales operations and finance staff, as well as product management, support and delivery teams, including providing guidance regarding contracting practices.

    • Navigating counterparty bureaucracies and working to effectively close deals in a timely manner on acceptable terms to Moody's.

    • Complete special projects and/or provide guidance on other corporate projects and initiatives as needed.

    • Managing and streamlining internal processes.

    • Displaying initiative and creativity in addressing challenges while accomplishing business objectives.

    Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctor or equivalent in Singapore from top university

    • 10-15 years experience

    • Excellent written and spoken English

    • Prior management experience

    Preferred:

    • Written and verbal fluency in either Mandarin Chinese or Japanese

    • Previous experience in financial services or technology industries

    • Previous law firm and in house experience

    • Collaborative work ethic and sense of humor
