    About the role

    As a Principal Engineer specializing in Observability platform on the Observability Engineering Team you'll lead the design and development of mission critical components that underpin our next generation of observability solutions. You will work closely with cross functional teams to architect scalable, resilient and distributed components of the platform. You will be responsible for technical innovation, and ensure highest standards of reliability, performance and scalability.

    Our platform leverages cutting edge technology to monitor, analyze and optimize performance, reliability and security across distributed environments.     What you will be doing

    • Architect and design scalable and extensible components for our observability platform.

    • Lead the implementation of innovative features and capabilities, leveraging emerging technologies and industry best practices

    • Evaluate many open source technologies to find the best fit for our needs, and contribute to some of them

    • Work with the Application Development and Product Management teams to scale their underlying services

    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement

    • Conduct performance analysis, optimization and troubleshooting to ensure scalability, reliability and efficiency of our platform

    • Drive the adoption of observability best practices, standards, and methodologies across the organization

    • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in observability space

    Required skills and experience

    • US citizens physically residing in the US, as required by the US government

    • 12+ years of industry experience building highly scalable distributed system

    • Programming experience in Python, Golang

    • Excellent data structure and algorithm skills

    • Proven experience designing for scalability, availability and reliability

    • Experience with observability framework and cloud-native landscape

    • Experience with public cloud echo-system (GCP preferred)

    • Proven experience with Kubernetes, Prometheus and Grafana and telegraf

    • Comfortable be on-call rotation schedule

    • Experience designing and implementing large, fault-tolerant and distributed systems around time series databases

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Previous experience of platform engineering is highly desirable

    • Bonus points for contributions to the open source community

    Education

    • BSCS or equivalent required, MSCS or equivalent strongly preferred
