    Position summary

    WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

    • In this role, you will build deep knowledge of Nike products, materials, processes, and manufacturing partners, solve complex product creation and engineering challenges, and help deliver high‑quality footwear products to consumers globally, while working within a global organization focused on manufacturing excellence.

    • You will partner cross‑functionally with teams including Innovation, Product Creation, Material Management, Cost Engineering, Material Development, and Responsible Supply Chain, and collaborate closely with factory and supplier partners to enable scalable footwear solutions.

    • You will apply Chemical and Process Engineering expertise to the design, development, and scale‑up of new products, materials, and processes, supporting smooth transitions from Product Creation Centers to manufacturing, including Innovation handoff to inline teams.

    • You will work within the Chemical Engineering and Footwear Manufacturing Engineering (FME) network to define, implement, and track progress against project, program, and initiative goals, while operating effectively in a fast‑paced, highly matrixed environment.

    • You will act as a functional expert in bottom‑making and bottom component technologies during the product creation phase, identifying and mitigating potential manufacturing risks and driving validation of advanced technologies to ensure manufacturing readiness.

    • In this role, you will elevate product quality and lead strategic chemical and sustainable projects from concept through manufacturing. You will apply Design of Experiments (DOE) and strong data analysis to diagnose product development issues, draw conclusions, and implement effective solutions.

    WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH

    • This role can be based on Taichung, and it reports to a Chemical Manager. This role will work collaboratively with external Footwear Manufacturing Partners, across the full Footwear Supply Chain organization, and with a highly matrixed organization across a variety of internal and external partners with cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity. You are part of a global team committed to delivering excellence to our product teams and to consumers every day.

    WHAT YOU BRING

    • Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymers, or other related sub-specialty field or a minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience; Footwear experience is preferred.

    • Strong Project & time management skillset, English written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to think strategically and drive strategic priorities in a technical environment.

    • Proven ability to work in diverse teams in a development or manufacturing setting and thrive.

    • Ability to lead projects and project teams through openness and honesty and have the courage to make tough calls when needed.

    • Proficient problem solver with a highly developed ability to deal with ambiguity.

    • Must have a customer focused, collaborative approach to working and the ability to give clear direction to internal and external partners.

    • Ensures accountability of oneself and others.

    • Passion for sustainability and continuous improvement.

    • Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, Statistica, Excel and Design of Experiments (DOE).
