Job Summary
The EPMO Project Controls Lead - Cost is responsible for developing and managing IT related project budgets, forecasts and variances from Planning thru Project Closure including account closing for active projects within the EPMO Cost Control Team. The candidate in this role will utilize their expertise to offer technical/analytical and functional support in the area of project controls. Candidate will work closely with other internal stakeholders engaged in the cost control process and assist with portfolio reporting. Additionally, assist and oversee daily operation of contract staff augment resources performing cost control function. Successful candidate will ensure projects being executed will meet the baseline schedule/cost review process and are executed with optimal use of both internal and external resources within required timeframes, as well as within budget and scope. Observe and guide Project team members to ensure adherence to PSEG Policies and Procedures regarding accounting and cost tracking. The Project Controls Lead Analyst - Cost will report directly to Manager Project Controls IT EMPO .
Job Responsibilities
Implement standard cost best practice and processes to ensure IT projects are executed and delivered in accordance with approved client scope and budget.
Develop, coordinate and maintain cost workbook and updates forecast for cost in alignment with schedule.
Analyze forecast and plan variances monthly and provide project teams with recommended corrective action to meet target budget
Recommend Project Management Information System tool enhancements to increase efficiencies.
Enhance oversight, and increase project cost data quality
Provide a monthly forecast for projects in accordance with scheduled work
Notify management when project is going over budget and provide corrective actions, prepare a PCR with all supporting documentation when needed.
Develop, coordinate and maintain status and variance reporting and executive dashboards for the project financials including performance indices such as CPI, SPI, Earned Value and other Key Performance Indices (KPIs)
Interact with internal and external stakeholders
Prepare monthly accruals for project financials
Reconcile paid invoices with accruals
Work with and manage Contractor Resources providing Cost Controller function for IT Projects, provide training and oversight
Provide Roll-up reporting for Project Portfolio, determine root cause and corrective action recommendation for any deviance
Job Specific Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental, Construction and 5 years of experience in Business, Engineering, Environmental, Construction.
In lieu of a degree a minimum of 9 years of experience in Business, Engineering, Environmental, Construction.
Experience with ERP system (SAP preferred) or Project Management software
Demonstrated MS office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Skills:
Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
Demonstrated leadership role in cost control, data management or corporate initiatives
