What Your Job Will Be Like:
The Investment Manager provides comprehensive support to the Sandia Corporation (Sandia) Investment Committee (IC) regarding the investment of Sandia¿s pension assets and 401(k) investment options. This role involves developing models and analytic processes to evaluate and make recommendations regarding investment strategies, asset allocation models, risk management strategies, investment products and service providers.
Typical Duties include:
Recommending long- and short-term investment strategies and asset allocation methodologies for the pension trust, and recommending diversified investment options for the 401(k) plan.
Independently analyze both quantitatively and qualitatively, and document the due diligence, for evaluations and recommendations on the engagement or retention of third-party investment managers, consultants, and service providers.
Negotiate terms and conditions of contracts with third-party investment managers and investment service providers.
Coordinate and direct actuaries and investment consultants in the preparation of asset/liability modeling and funding projections for the pension plan. Present results to the IC and Executive Management.
Monitor capital markets, investment trends, and news and industry reports and provide analysis of this information to the IC.
Ensure processes are followed and appropriately documented to demonstrate fiduciary prudence

Salary Range:
$138,600 - $235,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
Investment Manager requires Bachelor's degree in business discipline plus eight or more years of investment management experience;
OR master's degree in business discipline plus five or more years of investment management experience;
OR Bachelor¿s degree in business discipline plus Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and five or more years of investment management experience;
OR equivalent combination of education and investment management experience (12 years).
Candidates will be considered for an Associate Investment Manager position which requires Bachelor's degree in business discipline plus five or more years of investment management experience;
OR Master's degree in business discipline plus two or more years of investment management experience;
OR Bachelor¿s degree in business discipline plus Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and two or more years of investment management experience;
OR equivalent combination of education and investment management experience (9 years).
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA)
Demonstrated experience with Large retirement plan investment management, defined benefit and defined contribution plans.
Experience with DOE Management and Operating contract structure and reporting
Expert knowledge of investment principles, capital market theory, fiduciary regulations and standards, and investment vehicles.
Experience with budget projections, financial analyses, funding practices, cash management, and fiscal administration.
Working knowledge of accounting and financial concepts, relevant regulations and principles, and experience with related activities.
Understanding of the meaning and implications of financial indicators, and ability to manage overall financial performance and use financial analysis to evaluate strategic options and opportunities.
Fiscal knowledge and technical judgment in determining cost-effective methods to meet the program's mission.
Hands-on data and investment analysis experience & ability to research problems and propose data analysis and modeling solutions.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to be persuasive in convictions when presenting ideas to team members, managers or executives.
Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to explain detailed information about regulations, policies or programs in a clear and coherent manner.
Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to establish priorities, execute business and financial assignments, and document processes and results.
Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
Ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values.
About Our Team:
This team includes professionals with expertise in accounting and compliance, including Certified Public Accountants (CPAs).
They ensure that both retirement plans maintain qualified status through rigorous compliance monitoring, plan document updates, annual discrimination testing, and other necessary reporting.
They prepare the financial statements for the plans and collaborate closely with external auditors during the annual audits.
Additionally, they work with the Corporate Tax, Treasury, and Accounts Receivable Departments to ensure timely filing of Form 5500 with the IRS and the Department of Labor.
