    What Your Job Will Be Like:

    We are seeking a Lead Software Architect to join our Systems Tester team. The Systems Tester Lead Software Architect will be responsible for the delivery of all software products needed to design, develop, and operate system-level testers for all Center 2300 Nuclear Deterrence (ND) Modernization programs.

    On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Lead a team of ~4-8 software programmers and computer engineers across three different major nuclear weapon programs.

    • Create, develop, and mature a software architecture for all Center 2300 System-level Testers.

    • Lead the origination, development, and implementation of new LabVIEW code for System-level testers.

    • Improve commonality across all of ND and, potentially, all of Sandia developmental testers through strategic initiatives and coordination with other tester organizations at Sandia.

    • Grow and develop junior programmers.

    • Build a highly effective team.

    • Ensure tester software meets requirements.

    • Support functional or environmental testing team when anomalies arise.

      Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM. Some travel may be required for this position.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related STEM field, plus (4) years of related experience; OR Master's degree in stated field, plus eight (8) years of related experience; OR Bachelor's degree in stated field, plus twelve (12) years of related experience; OR equivalent related experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to perform independent research and development (in lieu of degree).

    • Extensive knowledge of LabVIEW, TestStand, C++, and other similar programming languages.

    • Active DOE Q-level security clearance (or DOD equivalent), with the ability and desire to obtain a Sigma 15 caveat, which includes random polygraph testing .

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in above-stated relevant field.

    • 15 years of relevant software programming experience.

    • Certified LabView Architect

    • Certified TestStand Developer

    • Ability to formulate and maintain a universal, multi-platform software architecture for complex test systems.

    • Ability to lead technical teams of ~4-8 engineers and/or computer scientists.

    • Ability to grow, develop, and mentor entry-level and mid-career level programmers.

    • Experience working with tester hardware such as cabling, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, custom PCB designs, various probe designs, etc.

    • Sizable knowledge and experience working in and around Nuclear Deterrence projects.

    • Ability to deliver high-quality software products on time that meets requirements.

    • Familiarly with calibration software and methods.

    • Desire to work with other SNL software architects to drive more commonality into all SNL ND testers.

    About Our Team:

    The ND Systems Electrical Test Department (02332) performs electrical and functional testing, at the system-level, to support Sandia's major ND modernization programs. Additionally, our team is responsible for the design, development, and manufacture of system-level development testers used for system-level functional testing. Our department is responsible for all electrical and functional system-level testing on the W80-4, Mk21, and W87-1 programs. The department maintains and operates multiple laboratories across SNL and interacts extensively with the design, environmental testing, and qualification teams of major ND modernization programs.

    Posting Duration:

    Security Clearance:

    Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
