    What Your Job Will Be Like:

    We are seeking a dedicated R&D Manager to lead the Mobile Guardian Transport EE/Testers/Cables Department and develop creative solutions that impact unique national security challenges! This new department will lead the development of key electrical components, cables, and testers necessary to meet the Mobile Guardian Transporter (MGT) mission need. In this role, you will lead the collaborative efforts across multiple departments and teams at the laboratories to solve multi-disciplinary technical challenges and will be instrumental in providing the capabilities necessary to deliver on MGT, while providing capability to the Space Systems Mission as needed.

    On any given day, you may be called upon to:

    • Assure execution of deliverables within negotiated budgets and schedules.

    • Set the direction of the department and pursue new opportunities.

    • Lead staff in the development of new concepts and maturation of new technical solutions that yield R&D opportunities for insertion into high-reliability systems.

    • Develop and strengthen partnerships with peer managers, internal and external partners, and the broader Laboratories to advance work across the research, development, and application spectrum.

    • With internal Program Offices, build and maintain trusted partnerships across NNSA, DOD and DOD contractor organizations.

    • Champion a culture that promotes safety and security, as well as a diverse and inclusive work environment.

    • Seek strategic investments to maintain and improve infrastructure and core capabilities of the department.

    • Manage staff development, including hiring, onboarding, professional development, and performance management.

      Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field plus 8 years' relevant experience OR master's degree in stated field plus 4 years' experience.

    • Program/project management and execution experience, including delivery of complex systems while meeting cost, schedule, and performance.

    • Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent with the ability to obtain an SCI clearance which may require a polygraph.

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Minimum of two years demonstrated leadership experience.

    • Degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or related field.

    • Demonstrated experience operating within an AS9100 (or similar) Quality Management System.

    • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively within and across organizations with a track record of building positive relationships and programmatic outcomes.

    • Experience developing and managing projects, to include leading teams with varied strengths.

    • Experience with test equipment, electrical components, connectors, and cables.

    • Experience with the electronic printed wiring assembly design and fabrication.

    About Our Team:

    The Electronic Subsystems/MGT AI&T Group (6760) provides the technical capabilities that support mission deliveries for the Monitoring Systems Center which includes Mobile Guardian Transporter and Space Systems. The 6700 team performs full-lifecycle design development and realization of technologies and systems to provide solutions for our customers.

    Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
