This position provides Air Operations Supervisor support and manages air transport facility exposure and services for Shell business units operating in the Americas. Air transport facilities include helidecks, heliports, airfields, airports, and any other location where aircraft operations may occur.
The incumbent will be accountable for the management, control, and improvement of aviation facility operations and emergency response. The role involves providing expertise and assurance and delivering on Air Transport safety and cost performance targets, while functioning as the Air Operations Supervisor (AOS) for Air Transport facility activities across the Americas.
This position will assist the responsible business units in the development, preparation, negotiation, and implementation of harmonized aviation facility contracts and strategies (both initially and upon renewal) to ensure high standards of safety and efficiency at a competitive cost.
The role is accountable for Air Transport facility assurance, aviation emergency response, safety, and other responsibilities as directed by the Head of Aircraft Services - Americas to include, but not limited to, the following:
Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE)
Facilitate the development and continuous improvement of Aviation SMS tools and processes including the Americas-Air Transport Safety Case, model bowties, assessment questionnaires, and improved reporting on aircraft operator, facility, and business unit assessment findings and the required closing actions
Address the requirements within the Americas-Air Transport Team for data management tools, dashboards, and the provision of high-quality data driven information to support the team's goals and overall management of air transport risk to ALARP
Assurance
Manage the delivery of the Americas-Air Transport Safety Case, its associated bowties (or equivalent), and integrate it with the annual Air Transport safety plan locally by providing the framework to ensure a robust safety culture exists within all Air Transport operations that are supported
Provide assurance that Air Transport operations are being carried out in compliance with NAA standards, the Shell Performance Framework and the SGRAO
Maintain competency using Radar, Sonar, or similar equivalent software applications to document Assurance activities and track audit and assessment findings and corrective actions to closure
Develop, submit, and provide understanding for any existing and/or proposed Shell Performance Framework Exceptions and SGRAO Variations related to Air Transport exposure
Effectively engage with internal and external staff to ensure Air Transport activities are aligned with Shell's strategy
Emergency Response
Provide a rapid and sustained aviation response capability to support critical Emergency Response requirements in support of assigned business units
Lead and direct the delivery of air transport resources during Emergency Response activities as assigned
Provide Air Transport facility subject matter expertise for the Air Operations Branch
Assist with the planning and coordination of search and rescue (SAR)/medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) capabilities that are adequate and available to meet Shell Air Transport response requirements and needs in the execution of SAR/MEDEVAC missions
Contract Management
Manage both strategic and tactical aviation facility contracts as the Contract Holder where appropriate and interface with air operators / vendors to ensure contractual compliance
Provide leadership, guidance, and ensure facility compliance with Shell standards and conduct regular facility-related engagements and performance assessments
Direct and facilitate the development of metrics, scorecards, and performance reporting of Air Transport facility related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Develop clear and concise communications and presentations for aviation-related operational and financial results
Provide management reports on trend analysis, comparisons, and progress on continuous improvements
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Must be a licensed pilot or aircraft engineer. Military-equivalent credentials will be considered
Must hold US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 certification or equivalent
At least 15 years of experience in the aviation industry, and have held leadership positions within an oil industry company, aircraft operating company, or equivalent military organization
At least 10 years of experience teaching and training helideck team members in aircraft handling, helideck operations, and helideck safety procedures
Aviation maintenance experience required with at least an awareness of aircraft maintenance practices including the management of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, maintenance quality assurance principles, and serviceability and dispatch requirements
Supply chain/logistics experience required with at least an awareness of the principles of supply chain/logistics, and at a minimum, an awareness of time-distance considerations, aviation logistical support requirements, and hazardous material by air handling
Project management experience required with at least an understanding of project management techniques, budgeting, and scheduling
User level competence with Radar, Sonar, or similar aviation SMS, audit, reporting tools or software suites
Strong public speaking/briefing skills required. Must be able to communicate effectively with senior management, external bodies, and all level of employees within the direct organization
Excellent technical writing skills required. Must be able to clearly communicate policies and procedures and develop technical specifications
Physically able to work in an offshore environment, achieve and maintain a Helicopter Underwater Escape Training certification, and conduct personnel transfer offshore by personnel hoisting device, and other devices
Preferred Qualification
Graduate of a civilian or military accident investigation course
Graduate of a civilian or military aviation safety course or equivalent Safety Management System (SMS) course
Graduate of a civilian or military maintenance, maintenance management, or maintenance quality assurance course
Graduate of a civilian or military aviation facility or helideck auditor's course
What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $173,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
