ware developers, rely on Sonatype to optimize their software supply chains.
Sonatype is seeking an Associate Data Analyst for our Business Intelligence team. You will play a key role in analyzing telemetry, go to market, product and other data to perform business critical tasks such as monitoring live platform traffic, analyzing user behavior, and maintaining critical data integrity systems. Working within a follow-the-sun model (across time zones in which Sonatype operates), you'll ensure continuous analytics coverage, identifying abuse patterns, optimizing onboarding flows, and surfacing opportunities for sales engagement.
This is an excellent entry point for analytically minded candidates seeking to build a career in data analytics, product operations, or security analytics.
What you'll do:
Perform Data Analysis: Review, explore, and aggregate data to spot trends, unusual patterns, and key insights that inform business decisions and initiatives
Report Generation: Build and maintain dashboards and reports using tools like Looker and Databricks; support reporting requirements
Profile Data: Quickly get familiar with new data sources by checking what's included, how it's structured, and whether it's reliable - helping make sure the data we use is complete and accurate
Maintain Core Datasets: Manage domain lists - including Generic, Disposable, and Blocked lists - ensuring clean data best practices so that each entry has emails, domains, IPs, timestamp, and owner
Monitor and Analyze Live Platform Data: Track signups and account activity across Sonatype's free products to identify usage patterns that indicate likeliness to purchase
Detect Abuse: Identify suspicious usage trends and proactively recommend blocking actions or threshold adjustments to the Product team
Surface Opportunity Signals: Identify legitimate enterprise usage patterns that signal organic adoption or upsell potential for go-to-market teams
Recommend Automation: Translate observed patterns into business rule suggestions (e.g., usage limits) that improve system-level abuse prevention and opportunity identification
Support Broader Analytics Efforts: Assist with cross-product analytics and BI reporting as team priorities allow.
What you'll need:
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Business Analytics, or related quantitative field.
1-3 years of experience in data analysis, BI reporting, or operational analytics
Strong analytical curiosity and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to communicate insights clearly and concisely
Ability to work across time zones in a distributed team environment.
It'd be great if you had:
Basic understanding of SQL, Python, Scala, Pyspark, or other data analyst languages and standards for data querying and manipulation
Experience working in a collaborative coding environment (e.g., GitHub)
Experience with data science, analysis, and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Databricks, Looker, Spark, Power BI, plotly)
Knowledge of business systems (e.g., CRMs, demand gen tools, etc.)
