Salary: $91,500 - $125,000
*Compensation for this position includes annual salary, 20% short-term incentive bonus, and full benefits package offerings. The exact amount of base salary may vary based on experience and skills brought to the role as well as the geographic location of the role.
What You'll Do
The primary role of the Lighting Design Specialist is to generate and expand profitable sales in the lighting design, control, and retrofit segments of our lighting business. This position will partner with management and sales teams to develop go-to market plans for lighting design/build, design assist, value-engineered and retrofit energy-savings solutions, and programs.

Design lighting layouts and calculations for design/build and design assist projects while proposing value engineered and energy-saving solutions for Viking Electric's customers that incorporate energy rebates and energy saving solutions where applicable
Evaluate drawings and project plans to understand customer needs with respect to Viking Electric's design and solutions strategies to provide value-engineered solutions leveraging the latest technologies to help customers understand how Viking Electric can help improve profitably and grow their business.
Work within customer furnished CAD files and other electronic plans to create and design layouts for new construction and retrofit opportunities
Conduct and engage in energy audits in conformance with recognized industry standards. Discern and interpret utility rebate programs, energy programs, energy rates and utility specific energy contracts. Develop ROI proposals where needed for retrofit opportunities and new construction projects as needed.
Create, foster, and maintain excellent working relationships with energy rebate entities. Provide technical assistance and product support to the engineering community by working independently or in conjunction with manufacturer's representatives.
Provide technical support and consultation to sales teams on proper application of product when necessary. Act as a subject matter expert for information on latest lighting technology trends and products as it relates to energy solutions.
What You Bring
Requirements:
5-7 years of lighting industry experience preferred.
Lighting design experience focused on commercial/industrial building lighting design required.
Past experience with lighting control systems, lighting control narratives and system functionality and operation required.
Experience working in a lighting design software such as Visual or AGI
Experience with sales and sales negotiations preferred.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without VISA sponsorship now or in the future
Must have valid driver's license
