    What You'll Do:

    You will be located in south China near our supplier base and have specific interaction and partnership responsibilities with the China, US, UK-based teams, and vendors. You are responsible for developing surface finishing manufacturing processes, driving CMF development at the front-end of programs in order to reduce risk.

    You will manage CMF development activities with material and manufacturing suppliers across technologies on programs, spanning from developing initial targets, to Golden and Limit samples, in close collaboration with our on the ground teams. You will attend trials and will be responsible for evaluating and making CMF decisions onsite - considering the overall design presentation. You will also engage in early exploration/concept work, scanning suppliers for new CMF techniques.

    • Be the CMF point of contact on several projects at once for CMF development efforts in the region. Have the ability to analyze, synthesize and communicate results back to the team on a regular basis.

    • Drive CMF efforts in the region for developing and coordinating decoration technologies among various suppliers.

    • Be deeply involved in developing & managing different kinds of processes in the scope of: painting, printing and other cosmetic relevant finishes as needed.

    • Manage painting and printing process development, DFM, machine & line qualification from each development build stage to mass production.

    • Drive DOEs to find out the best setups and parameters, trouble-shooting color, cosmetic and durability problems, and finalizing the process solution from prototype stage to mass production stage.

    • Partnership with SQM to drive yield improvement through analysis of part quality, set up color and cosmetic defect limit range physically and numerically.

    • Provide on-site support for evaluating and communicating color matching efforts on product and packaging components.

    • Coordinate obtaining parts for review in the region and shipping to where there is a need for further review.

    • Be able to make subjective calls around execution on manufacturing results.

    • Support packaging press-checks and get color controls in place to align with product color control processes.

    Skills You'll Need:

    • A Industrial Design degree or BS in Engineering (mechanical, chemical, materials, or equivalent).

    • 5+ years of working as a CMF designer/engineer, preferably within the consumer electronics space with at least 3 years.

    • Demonstrate high color acuity and ability to pass the Munsell Hue Color Test with a perfect score.

    • Must have an excellent overall understanding of manufacturing and decoration processes.

    • Solid understanding of durability performance of materials like plastics, paint and soft materials like PU leather, silicon, felt, fabrics, meshes... as they relate to processing requirements.

    • Solid understanding of color measurement and specification.

    • Strong passion & capability of technical problem solving: troubleshooting, innovative idea proposing, DOE planning & execution, data analysis etc.

    • Experience in development of finishing processes for mechanical components - preferably in a hands-on role with cosmetic enclosures.

    • Experience leading advanced technology development activities resulting in successful implementation manufacturing techniques.

    • A team player who is self-motivated, result oriented and detail driven.

    • Fluency with written and spoken English. Ability to communicate abstract and concrete concepts in 2nd language is a must.

    • Ability and willingness to work independently and travel frequently.
