Position summary

tact for resolving supplier quality issues, and purchase order accounting issues.

  • Travel, as required, to meet with Suppliers and other appropriate representatives to discuss and satisfy matters that cannot be taken care of in the plant.

  • Responsible for determining material requirements from engineering and production schedules.

  • Supports Supply Chain with maintaining appropriate inventory levels, to achieve Cash Flow requirements.

  • Work independently and arrive at decisions in line with company policies of good, ethical purchasing practices.

  • May negotiate only (no execution of) short- and long-term contracts, agreements and blanket purchase orders by delegation of authority.

  • Make presentations to customers (internal/external) and to management on the status of commodities and projects.

  • Responsible for being the subject matter expert with regard to assigned commodities including analysis of market trends.

  • Develop Commodity Management Strategic Plans.

  • Develop and implement tactical plans, schedule and prepare management and analysis reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.

  • When assigned, may assist in the direction of the procurement activity of the department and training of developing buyers.

  • Perform other related duties as necessary to support the procurement process in four main areas; (1) data management, (2) data analytics, (3) sourcing and competition, (4) market analysis.

Required Education and Experience

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business or related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience

  • FAR/DFAR regulated purchasing experience, and compliance.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working with inventory management, purchase orders and procurement of materials.

Required Qualifications

  • CPM or CFM preferred

  • Knowledge of supply sources and marketing conditions in various commodities.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Thorough understanding of operations principles (JIT, MRP, TQC, Lean, Six Sigma) required. - 2 - MA-RF-150 REV 04/18

  • Demonstrated experience and successful results in negotiation skills and strategies.

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.

  • Must possess a thorough technical understanding of the various commodities assigned.
