    As a Lead Cloud Engineer in TR Labs, you will be part of a small Core Technology team, focused on our mission: to enable everyone to deliver better software faster. We hire specialists and generalists across Engineering and Design, as well as a variety of AI research areas to ensure the company remains a market leader. TR Labs is known for delivering innovative AI products that serve Thomson Reuters customers in new and exciting ways.

    About the role

    As a Lead Cloud Engineer, you will:

    • Experiment and Develop: You will drive the end-to-end solution development lifecycle, championing best practices to ensure repro ducible deployments and well-managed software delivery in support of Labs as a Research and Development function.

    • Collaborate and support: Working in a collaborative environment, you will share information, value diverse ideas, and partner effectively with colleagues to support their work with cloud-based solution architectures, CI/CD/IaC automation, developer tools, and documentation. You will elevate, mentor, and support teammates.

    • Deliver: With a sense of urgency and the desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, you will translate complex platform engineering and business problems into solutions with clearly defined scope. You recognize that each software solution itself is only one piece of the puzzle. You consider also how to extend, maintain, support, document, and evangelize solutions when evaluating where to invest the team's time and energy.

    About You:

    You're a fit for the role of Lead Cloud Engineer , if you have:

    • Master's or Bachelor's with a comparable level of experience
    • At least 5 years practical, relevant experience architecting, building, and/or operating software solutions using cloud service providers (TR primarily uses AWS and increasingly Azure).
    • Solid understanding of systems-design/solution-architectures. You will know how to use DevOps, CI/CD, and IaC concepts and tools to deploy working solutions using cloud services.
    • Experience as a technical leader, leading aspects of the following:
      • aiding in the ideation of platform engineering and product solutions with team stakeholders

      • comfort in dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity in problem statements and paths to success.

      • breaking down complex problems into tractable components with iterative improvements.

      • coordinating, guiding, supporting the work of others.

      • communication of progress and plans with varied stakeholders in support of fellow developers, and strategic objectives and KPIs more generally.

    Preferred qualifications

    • 8+ years practical experience using AWS and/or Azure to solve diverse and/or ambiguous platform engineering and/or software product problems.

    • Demonstrated ability to translate cloud provider services into working solutions.

    • Experience in a fast-paced, agile environments managing uncertainty and ambiguity.

    • Proficiency with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, TypeScript), scripting, infrastructure-as-code configurations.

    • Outstanding communication and data-driven decision-making collaboration with Platform Engineering and Product stakeholders.

    • Diverse experiences across problem spaces, companies and cultures.
