Responsibilities

• Work closely with mobile and product team to develop and build fundamental media capabilities and components for the TikTok product, including playback controls, subtitles, translations, and dubbing.
• Build and maintain user-facing serving systems that handle hundreds of thousands of QPS, as well as data pipelines that process hundreds of millions of videos a day.
• Work to improve stability and performance and reduce costs.
• Deploy software programs and evaluate user feedback.
• Comply with project plans and industry standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications
Must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related STEM field, and 1 year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related STEM field, and 2 years of related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:

• Designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant, distributed, and low latency backend workflow orchestration architecture;
• Designing and implementing large-scale, distributed online software services using programming language Java, Go, JavaScript, Ruby, or Python;
• Designing and implementing scalable RESTful APIs;
• Working with cross-functional stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical requirements, and using agile methodology for the entire software development lifecycle;
• Writing testable, maintainable, and low latency software using high level programming languages, including Golang, Java, Python, or C++; and
• Using unit tests, integration tests, and load tests to ensure quality of delivered software products and continuous software development pipeline.

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $145000 - $250000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
