    As TikTok Privacy & Security team, we are committed to protecting the personal privacy and data security of billions of TikTok users. Facing challenges of the global multi-data center with thousands of microservices, multiple storage (MySQL/Redis/Kafka/Hive), tech stacks, and a large scale R&D team, we will build various frameworks, architectures, platforms, and processes on top of this, to embed security and privacy protection into all designs of products and engineering.

    As a software engineer, your responsibilities are:

    • Work closely with our PMs & design team to define privacy friendly SDLC & design user friendly data governance platforms.
    • Design approaches & implement privacy engineering solutions for data protection, control & compliance requirements throughout our product suite.
    • Deeply involved in key data governance projects, addressing architecture & integration challenges for various business scenarios. Drive progress to ensure success of the projects.
    • Investigate the cutting-edge industry progress of privacy engineering, explore feasible solutions to solve pain-points & tech challenges, continue to evolve privacy infrastructure.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or above, 3+ years of software engineering experience.
    • In-depth understanding of computer principles, familiar with general server architecture, skilled use of various data structures and algorithms, proficient in a programming language.
    • Good business scenarios & requirements understanding, able to design reasonable technical solutions.
    • Strong communication skills and teamwork spirit.
    • With rigorous logical thinking.

    Having the following experience is a big plus:

    • Experience of privacy awareness process design for SDLC, AI model training.
    • Experience of data processing control solutions like purpose limitation, access control etc.
    • Experience of data protection solutions like data classification, data de-identification etc.
    • Rich experience in Internet product architecture design.

    Job Information

    [For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

    The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $145000 - $250000 annually.

    Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
