    Position summary

    • Lead the Cross Issue & Product Policy team, setting vision, strategy, and priorities across a portfolio that spans all harm domains, new product features, and platform-level policy questions.
    • Own the drafting, maintenance, and evolution of TikTok's Community Guidelines, ensuring clarity, defensibility, and operational applicability across global markets.
    • Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership to leaders on emerging policy issues.
    • Partner with subject-matter policy teams, enforcement specialists, product managers, engineers, data scientists, and legal experts to ensure policies are both principled and implementable.
    • Guide the team's work on high-profile and time-sensitive policy initiatives, including new product launches, and novel, fast-developing harm areas.
    • Develop and mentor a high-performing team of policy managers, creating a culture of clarity, accountability, and collaboration.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 5 years of experience in Trust & Safety, Public Policy, Law, Academia, Technology, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, set strategic direction, and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced, global environment.
    • Deep understanding of content policy, online safety, integrity, and authenticity challenges, as well as the dynamics of social media platforms.
    • Exceptional ability to synthesize complex topics for executives, external stakeholders, and broad audiences.
    • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working with product, technical, legal, and operational teams.
    • High technical aptitude and ability to navigate complex tools, systems, and emerging technologies.
    • Knowledge of data science and how it informs policy development and enforcement.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working with or leading policy development in highly regulated or high-scrutiny industries.
    • Experience engaging with external stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, academics, or civil society organizations.

    Job Information

    [For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

    The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $159000 - $384000 annually.

    Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

    Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location.
