https://U.S. Data Security (“USDS”) is a standalone department of TikTok in the https://U.S. This new security-first division was created to bring heightened focus and governance to our data protection policies and content assurance protocols to keep https://U.S. users safe. Our focus is on providing oversight and protection of the TikTok platform and user data in the https://U.S., so millions of Americans can continue turning to TikTok to learn something new, earn a living, express themselves creatively, or be entertained. The teams within USDS that deliver on this commitment daily span Trust & Safety, Security & Privacy, Engineering, User & Product Ops, Corporate Functions and more.

About the Role : As a VMware VDI Engineer at Tiktok USDS, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our large VMware-based virtual desktop environment. You will work closely with clients to understand their requirements, design tailored VDI solutions, and provide expert-level support to ensure optimal system performance and security. Additionally, the individual must be well versed in Network Storage, VMware on AWS and Azure AD.

Key Responsibilities:

1. VDI Design and Implementation:

   • Collaborate with clients to assess their VDI needs and design customized solutions.
   • Implement and configure VMware Horizon View and related components to deploy VDI environments.
   • Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of VDI systems.

2. Infrastructure Optimization:

   • Monitor VDI infrastructure for performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations.
   • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to virtualization and VDI environments.
   • Conduct capacity planning to meet current and future demand.

3. Security and Compliance:

   • Implement security best practices and policies for VDI environments.
   • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, such as HIPAA or GDPR.

4. Documentation and Training:

   • Maintain detailed documentation of VDI configurations and procedures.
   • Provide training and knowledge transfer to junior team members and clients.

5. Technical Expertise:

   • Stay up-to-date with the latest VMware technologies and industry trends.
   • Evaluate and recommend new tools or solutions to enhance VDI performance and functionality.
   • Knowledge of App Volumes, Dynamic Environment Manager, Horizon TrueSSO, and Unified Access Gateways will be key.

6. Client Interaction:

   • Build strong client relationships by providing excellent technical support and guidance.
   • Collaborate with clients to understand their evolving IT needs and propose solutions accordingly. Qualifications:

• 5 to 7 years of experience working with VMWare virtual desktops
• Strong knowledge of VMware Horizon View, vSphere, VMware Cloud on AWS and related technologies.
• Advanced Experience in Windows Desktop Operating Systems, specifically Windows 10
• Knowledge of AWS, specifically EC2, VPC, ELB, R53, RDS, IAM, and other infrastructure services.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
• Knowledge of storage technologies (https://e.g., SAN, NAS) and networking concepts

Nice to have:

• Proficiency in scripting languages (https://e.g., PowerShell) for automation.
• Familiarity with cloud-based VDI solutions is a plus.
• VMware certifications, such as VCP-DTM or VCAP-DTM, are highly desirable.
