    The Global Point of Sale (POS) and Payments Solution Delivery organization is responsible for delivering technology solutions to drive growth, enable efficiency, and improve the customer experience at the front-line in our stores.     What you will do:

    We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer with deep expertise in mainframe technologies, Sales Audit, and Point of Sale (POS) systems. In this strategic role, you will lead the design, development, and evolution of business-critical functionality across our downstream mainframe platforms, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and operational excellence.

    As a Staff Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader and mentor, driving architectural decisions, influencing engineering standards, and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our sales reporting and auditing systems, while guiding teams through complex technical challenges and modernization efforts.Design, develop, and maintain mainframe-based solutions supporting downstream POS processes such as Sales Audit, Tax Configuration, and Sales Reporting.

    • Architect, design, and lead the implementation of mainframe-based solutions supporting downstream POS processes such as Sales Audit, Tax Configuration, and Sales Reporting.

    • Provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals.

    • Guide and mentor engineers, promoting best practices in coding, testing, and DevSecOps.

    • Lead the creation and review of detailed technical specifications and high-complexity design documents.

    • Oversee the execution of JCL jobs, test data creation, and file comparisons in non-production environments.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to estimate, plan, and deliver high-impact technical solutions.

    • Drive continuous improvement in system performance, reliability, and maintainability.

    • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI, and TJX IT standards.

    • Act as a key contributor in Agile/Kanban ceremonies and technical planning sessions.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 8+ years of experience with COBOL, JCL, and mainframe development.

    • 4+ years of experience with DB2, Stored Procedures, and IMS environments, including checkpoint/restart logic.

    • Expertise in CICS programming, Expeditor, and CICS map development.

    • Proficiency with tools such as SPUFI, FILE-AID, Changeman, and Control-M.

    • Deep understanding of Sales Audit systems, downstream data flows, and retail transaction processing.

    • Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and mentor engineering teams.

    • Strong knowledge of source code management, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices.

    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

    • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Agile methodologies.

    • Ability to work independently and influence across teams and functions.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in large-scale retail or global enterprise environments.

    • Knowledge of tax configuration systems and compliance reporting.

    • Exposure to hybrid mainframe-cloud integration strategies or modernization efforts.
