Pride Bodies Ltd., a Wabtec Company in Cambridge, Ontario, offers custom design and truck-body manufacturing and upfitting of utility, service, construction, railway and other custom truck bodies. Our environmentally-friendly truck bodies are researched, designed and customized to our customers' satisfaction.

Who will you be working with?

As a member of the team at Pride Bodies Ltd., you will be collaborating with the other Engineering team members, Production and Quality Assurance teams to develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions.

  • Uphold priorities of Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork and Leadership;

  • Develop, optimize and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality and safety.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, minimize waste and increase efficiency.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor of Engineering Science Degree or Engineering Technologist Diploma;

  • Two or more years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment;

  • Two or more years of experience as a mechanical designer in a mobile-equipment manufacturing or related environment;

  • Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques;

  • Knowledge of Lean-Manufacturing principles and Six-Sigma methodologies is an asset;

  • Very proficient with Solidworks, Auto CAD and MS Office;

  • Knowledge of welding and metallurgy;

  • Knowledge of sheet-metal design and fabrication techniques;

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well with a cross-functional technical team and manufacturing personnel;

  • Positive, high-energy individual with strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently and in group settings;

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;

  • Strong project-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Develop mechanical equipment designs in all aspects of structure, components, electro-mechanics and hydraulics for mobile equipment;

  • Create shop floor work packages that include detailed drawings and assembly instructions in 3D and/or 2D as required;

  • Provide training and guidance to production teams on new processes and procedures to ensure successful implementation;

  • Follow up on projects with production team;

  • Create detailed bills of material and shop routers from customer specifications;

  • Maintain detailed documentation for all aspects of assigned projects;

  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues;

  • Interact with customers, both internal and external, in order to develop a clear understanding of all requirements and scope of work;

  • Adhere to time commitments of production and release of designs;

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee would work at a desk for approximately 30% of the workday. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.

Safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes and hearing protection must be worn when on the shop floor.
