Graham-White, a Wabtec Company, is a leading innovator for various products used in the freight and transit rail business segments, as well as the transit bus markets. Products such as air drying and filtration equipment, pneumatic valves, locomotive parking brakes, sanding equipment, and gauges.
The Setup Operator is responsible for performing multiple tasks to support the fabrication of locomotive / truck components. This position takes a unique individual who'll be responsible to work in a team atmosphere to improve manufacturing processes and promote a climate of cooperation.
This is a Monday through Thursday, first shift position with occasional overtime required.
Duties and Responsibilities - may include but is not limited to the following;
Understands and performs all functions related to set up and operation of CNC and / or manual machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
Follows process sheets for selecting and installing tools, offsets, fixtures according to specifications to prepare machine for operation,
Use of manual and electronic precision measuring equipment to check multiple quality parameters.
Use of engineering part drawings and process plans, performs first piece approval.
Reports malfunctions of machining equipment and / or process deviations to appropriate personnel.
De-burr parts.
Requires accurate counts and meeting production standards.
Verifies cycle times, keeps work area clean and in order, follows all company safety procedures and guidelines.
May load work programs, take offsets, find zero.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Prefer Five (5) years machining experience, or equivalent apprenticeship or Workforce training.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications:
Requires general knowledge of machining techniques and methods, along with setting up and operating machines effectively and the ability to receive and execute instructions.
Must be able to interpret engineering part drawings, use precision measuring equipment, and follow process sheets and demonstrate all safety precautions for operating named equipment.
Work Environment:
The employee will normally work in a production floor environment, with regular exposure to loud noises, heat/humidity and dust or vapors with occasional exposure to cold temperatures.
The employee will be regularly be required to stand, walk, handle materials, reach outward and upward, climb, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
