Since Latoya Dominique Grady started with Enterprise Holdings in November of 2021, she has had the chance to work at multiple locations and learn how to effectively run a business — greatly advancing both her professional skills and her career.

“The tools I have received since working at Enterprise are priceless, and I have been able to use what I have learned to grow my personal business,” she tells Fairygodboss. “Enterprise showed me that they value women by having a woman as our CEO and by having multiple women-centered gatherings that promote sisterhood and support. I have also had the pleasure of having multiple female mentors in my journey who have been welcoming and supportive through all of the lessons I have learned while working here.”

Today, Grady has grown to be the assistant branch manager for Enterprise Holdings at Dallas Love Field Airport — a role she has been in since February of 2023. Looking back on what she’s learned along the way, Grady tells us that she has five top tips for women looking to advance their careers:

  1. Remain resilient.

  2. Have a positive attitude regarding change.

  3. Be an effective communicator.

  4. Find multiple mentors who have your best interest at heart.

  5. Be open to feedback.

Here, we caught up with Grady to learn more about her career, the role of mentorship, and advice for other women who are looking to advance on their own.

To begin, tell us a bit about your job as an Assistant Branch Manager. What’s your day-to-day role like?

My day-to-day consists of providing excellent front-end customer service, ensuring that my team is also providing excellent customer service, and encouraging effective communication.

What career move of yours are you most proud of?

The career move that I am the proudest of is my new promotion to Dallas Love Field Airport. Thanks to the support of my mentors, I felt confident stepping outside my comfort zone and tackling such a large operation.

Speaking of mentors, what has been the role of mentorship in your career?

The role of mentorship has been an essential part of my career at Enterprise Holdings. I have had the pleasure of learning from and leaning on multiple women in upper-level positions. These women have empowered me to give back and teach new women who are starting their own professional journeys, as well.

That’s wonderful! Can you tell us more about how you ensure that you are lifting other women up with you?

As I grow my career, I ensure that I am lifting other women up by being a good example at all times and by being someone that others feel comfortable leaning on during their times of need. I have learned that relationships are important, and I continue to nurture the relationships I have already established while remaining open to new relationships.

Do you have any resources that you would recommend women read to help them better support other women?

Books, podcasts, and other forms of media that help build confidence are the best tools to use for support. While women have come very far in professional settings, we still have a way to go and, without confidence, the professional world can take a toll on our mental health.

Finally, how does Enterprise Holdings support women?

Enterprise Holdings supports women by bringing us together in social settings so that we may learn from one another and lean on one another. Enterprise Holdings also has women in high-level leadership positions to show new women entering the organization that they, too, can reach professional excellence.
