‘I Love My Job’: 31 Years of Personal and Professional Growth Opportunities at My Dream Company

Welcome to I Love My Job, the series where we hear from real women who really love their jobs. In this edition, we sat down with Aliza Canciller, the Director of Provider Relations at Delta Dental Ins., the nation's most recognized provider of dental insurance.

This impressive brand recognition was one of the things that attracted Canciller to the company. In her previous work at a dental office, Canciller recalls telling her manager that her dream was to work at Delta Dental Ins. Then, “one day, the opportunity opened up,” she tells us. “I took the chance and moved to start my new job at Delta Dental Ins. back in 1991.” And, in the 31 years since, she hasn’t looked back! “It’s been such a wonderful journey,” says Canciller. “I pretty much grew up here at Delta.”

From a customer service rep to a coordinator role and more — Delta Dental Ins. empowered Canciller to try out different positions and find her passion, which ended up being provider relations. In this area, Canciller tells us that she “advanced my people leadership career as a director where I have the privilege of working with an amazing and dynamic group of professionals.”

Can you tell us what you find most exciting about your work?

What really excites me and what I love about my job is the people who I get to do this job with. I have the privilege of working with people who have a passion for the work and who value teamwork and collaboration. Here at Delta, we love to celebrate success in our people. 

As a people leader, my favorite part of my job is really motivating and empowering employees so that we are all inspired to take exceptional care of our customers, providers and each other, while making sure that we are all having fun.

How would you describe the culture at Delta Dental Ins.?

I have seen our organization evolve and transform, and I would describe the culture at Delta Dental Ins. as one where employees champion diversity, inclusion and belonging to make sure that everyone feels safe, included, respected and valued.

I'm a member of Women at Delta, which is one of the most uplifting communities. I'm really honored to be part of this community; we are a group of women and allies who cultivate a culture of work-life balance in order to have harmony in life, which includes supporting careers, relationships and health to enable growth, progress and development.

Women at Delta offers a mentoring program and professional development opportunities for women, and it really empowers me to be the best version of myself that I can be personally and professionally.

What advice do you have for women looking for jobs at Delta Dental Ins.?

My advice is to be curious, step outside of your comfort zone and seek out opportunities to learn new things. Be adaptable, and find mentors who you trust will help you get better and who will challenge you to think from a different perspective. Also, build relationships and surround yourself with people who will elevate you and inspire you to be the best version of yourself.
