How can we best support employees in a hybrid work environment? As more and more people are finding themselves in hybrid roles, this question is becoming increasingly common. However, while hybrid work is here to stay, finding answers to this question isn’t easy. This is partly because, in a hybrid environment, our work and home lives are intermingled. As such, it’s important for companies to be sure that they focus on more inclusive, human-centric ideas that build a hospitable environment for all their employees.
So, how can companies best support our new world of work? Well, take Forcepoint — the leading user and data protection cybersecurity company, entrusted to safeguard organizations while driving digital transformation and growth — for example. At Forcepoint, they went beyond just adapting to a hybrid environment. “We want to thrive by prioritizing peoples’ connections in our hybrid environments,” explains Erika O’Brien Director, Communications and Inclusion & Diversity at the company.
As part of this, in early 2022, Forcepoint decided to formalize their hybrid working environment and prioritize a more fulfilling and sustainable work-life blend for their employees.
“It’s been a year of learning, adapting, and exploring the right balance that allows us to stay connected as a team,” shares Emilie McLaughlin, the Chief People Officer at Forcepoint. The company has used a variety of resources, such as their employee resource groups (ERGs), think tanks, holiday celebrations, and hackathons to build an inclusive hybrid culture.
And this hard work has paid off! Forcepoint’s most recent Point of View employee engagement survey showed a 73% engagement score and confirmation that Forcepoint employees feel connected and clear about our strategy in the hybrid work environment they adopted. In the same survey, Forcepoint received an 83% engagement score that indicates their team feels a sense of belonging at the company. This focus has generated attention outside of the company, too.
Thanks to Forcepoint’s impressive emphasis on always improving their culture and supporting their employees, they’ve just been recognized by the Built In annual awards program. This award honors both remote-first employers as well as companies in large tech markets across the U.S.
The companies who receive these awards “understand their people are their most valuable asset, and they’ve stepped up to meet the modern professional’s new expectations, including the desire to work for companies that deliver purpose, growth and inclusion,” shares Sheridan Orr, Chief Marketing Officer, Built In. “These winners set the stage for a human-centered future of work, and we can’t wait to see that future unfold.”
In the Built In 2023 Best Places To Work Awards, Forcepoint was featured in multiple award lists, including:
Austin Best Large Places to Work
Austin Best Places to Work
San Francisco Best Large Places to Work
Washington DC Best Large Places to Work
Washington DC Best Places to Work
“It feels good to be recognized on several Best Places to Work award lists this year,” says O’Brien, “and we’ll continue to focus on making Forcepoint a place where people can show up as their authentic selves and do their best work!”
