Why It's Hard To Be An Optimist About Maternity Leave Laws

If you've ever wondered whether America's maternity leave laws are ever going to change, this Bloomberg Businessweek article gives an answer.  You may already know maternity leave in America is unpaid for the vast majority of women.  You may also know its less generous than almost every other developed country in the world.  But is that going to change any time soon?
The sad conclusion of the article is that the U.S. Congress seems unlikely to do much about it, regardless of who is elected President in 2016.  The Family Act that's been proposed by NY Senator Kristen Gillibrand would cover all new parents 66% of their pay for three months -- but its been politically stalled since 2013.
