I feel I can no longer afford to stay in my current job.
It is a horrible feeling. I've been in my current position for so long I don't have a resume. I enjoy my coworkers and my clients but the financial piece can no longer be ignored. Sadly, my organization is not generous with merit increases and does not adjust for cost of living. I have a side hustle (uber) but in the last six months the miles for dollars is not worth the drive.
Any suggestions on creating a resume when you aren't entirely sure what role to target? Or where to even start to with creating a resume?

I came back to edit after reading your post again.
your gut is telling you not to leave, so find ways not to! Always a great idea to gussy the resume up, but leaving the organization comes with big potential downsides and an undetermined success rate. Since you are open to side hustles (but you are right, Uber is a TOUGH one to make work)- FIND ONE THAT DOES _and_ get the resume ready anyway FOR A PROMOTION.
I have ideas for both resume and other side things that would not fit in a response here (ping me if you wish).
I retooled my resume as an older job seeker and just yesterday got a job off her so I may have some insight.

Do you have an official job description? If so, start with that. If not, start making a list of your job responsibilities/functions, as well as any training/education you have.
Figure out what you want to do & then Google resumes for that industry/job to get some inspiration.
Consider hiring someone who professionally writes/edits resumes. You want the resume to represent you but there are many folks who can help you with that.

Search Sam Straun on LinkedIn, he provides great tips for resumes for free and a template. BEST OF LUCK! Also, you should always have an updated resume even if you're not looking.
