Hi Folks - I'm actively applying and interviewing for HR jobs.
And it is hard!!! The question today is:
Do you wear a suit for your virtual interviews?
I try to dress appropriately, when I'm the interviewER as well as the interviewEE. What say you?
I like to it puts me more in the job frame of mind. but if its online then at least I get to wear leggings! lol
wear what you would wear to an interview. Err on the side of overdressed unless you are in the "cool" field that will judge you by your T shirt. lol. Be sure to check your angle, lighting, and background as part of your presentation.
I know that feeling. I thought virtual interviews is way harder than face to face simply because you need to build your image within the screen. So I look for tips that I can refer to for my interview before and here's one that I got.

Tips and ideas are on point. Love the idea.

I believe the virtual interview is even more important than the in-person interview, because the interviewers are not seeing the whole you--just from the waist up at most. I would definitely wear a suit. (I would also practice looking into the camera instead of looking at the screen. This will convey looking into their eyes.) And, don't forget to smile. Best of luck!
I think it depends upon the company culture. What is universal is ensuring you have researched the company, arrive on time for the meeting and are prepared. As well as your ability to watch for cues - keep you answers succinct AND remember to smile as well as build rapport with the interviewer.
Agreed! Presentation on virtual interviews is just as important. I'd try to make sure you're well lit and have a professional background as well. You got this!
If the industry you are interviewing is a typically conservative (like banking & finance), a suit is a good plan.
Otherwise, a nice less casual top (and maybe a blazer if you don't have a suit and it is a more conservative place) and a nice pair of slacks (or skirt) is completely suitable for any type of interview.
Even if the place is extremely casual (like a tech start-up), dressing somewhere in the business casual to business professional realm shows that you take the opportunity seriously and that you want to make a good impression.
