Finally made it to the end of the interview process for one position I applied to and was asked for references.
The hiring manager emailed letting me know they are experiencing internal delays and would be calling references within two weeks. Well it's been three weeks and still no calls yet. I then sent an email requesting the status three days ago and if there is anything I can do to help the process. No response yet so I continued my job search. My question is, should I just move on to the next or give them more time. Now that we are well into November as I continue my search, I think the holidays will affect turnaround even more. Should I continue looking, full speed ahead or conserve my efforts and wait until after the holidays? Thanks for the input.
Always continue to look until you have an accepted offer! Taking care of you is number one. There are many reasons things can slow down internally, but you shouldn't hold off your career for them. =)
I would continue to look. Not all companies will get back to you even if they’ve filled the position. Good luck on your search!
I would definitely keep my ear to the ground since most 2022 budgets have either been approved or are in the final stages so some companies will want to get a jump on the first rounds.
The company checking references seems to be dragging their feet since it shouldn't take a month to check references.
Until you have signed a employment agreement, always continue looking for a new job.
