Resume Review

Hi! Please recommend your favorite/best way to review a resume. I'm struggling to get any interviews and when I've asked companies for feedback, they say they can't provide any so I don't know why I'm getting rejected. Ugh, I know the job market is wild right now. I update my resume with key words for jobs I'm super interested in but often also send the generic copy to places I'm kinda interested in in hopes something will stick. No luck. I know most places run resumes through a system first, so I'd love to hear your favorite site/method to submit my resume and have it reviewed as if I'm submitting it for a job. I know there are a lot and I'm ok with paying but I need it to be legit and worth my money.

Try earnbetter.com. It is a life saver. It helps format your resume for ATS as well has help with professional wording. I learned about it on this platform and I am paying it forward. Hope this helps! I feel your pain. Good luck!

My two cents: research ATS systems (applicant tracking systems) prior to going to a website to run your resume through. As someone who has recently been in your position, and who has also held jobs where I was the interviewer using an ATS to screen resumes, what I learned was that those sites' "free" services are just an attempt to get you to purchase their service. And most of the time, their services suck. Researching ATS systems with questions to Google like, how to build an ATS proof resume or using free AI services like ChatGPT to learn more is WAY better than paying for most services. In general, ATS systems want a stripped-down, keyword heavy resume. No fancy fonts, no weird or creative formatting, no graphics. ChatGPT would also be a great resource to use to help you pick keywords to update your resume for specific posts. Good luck!

Thank you so much! I've run it through a few "free" sites but didn't want to pay unless it was well vetted. I have been using ChatGPT too, I forgot to mention, and it's been game changing.
