Graduated in 90's not college, but local business school. Always interested in computers, at my local college is offering class in cyber security. Should I go for it? Don't know anything like about coding etc.
I would also add check out cyber security tutorials on youtube/linkedin/any of the free learning sites, before signing up for a class as well. Some these classes are not cheap so you want to make sure this is something worth your time and money. Good luck!
Contact the school/professor and ask questions like "Is this suitable for someone with no coding experience?" Even with no coding you can learn all kinds of great things about computer security and networks. GO for it if it's something you're interested in!
Go check if there are prerequisites at least. You have nothing to loose. Plus if you don't try you'll always have the regret that you maybe missed on something you really liked. You that at the end of their lives most people regret that they DIDN'T do things, not that they did.
Hello - I think you should definitely explore the classes. The tech sector is one of the only ones that will have continued growth and I feel any skills you receive in this sector are great. I think you could go work for a company or perhaps become a contractor if you needed to for the short term. As long as you can afford it and you'll not have to take out any scary loans. Based on our posting, it sounds like you have a real passion for it so you'll be more engaged and happy learning and eventually doing the work. Also, you'll find that folks will be helpful to you in the community, you just need to be brave, network and continue to ask. Onward and upward - wishing you great success from the NYC tri-state! ;)
