LinkedIn networking success story:
I have a client who was interested in working for a particular company. She found the CEO on LinkedIn and crafted him a tailored message, including:
*Who she is (high-level) as a professional.
*Why she is interested in the company.
*What she can help the company do to solve their challenges and advance their goals.
Guess what happened thereafter?
He responded back letting her know he appreciated her gusto (my word not his ;) and put her in touch with his SVP to speak further.
Fast forward a month or two. She got a offer for $160K and is starting with them in Jan.
Quick tip for job seekers:
1- When you find a company you want to work with, do some research to either find the relevant person (with positional power) in the department you're interested in.
2- Find their email and tailor your message to them with your interest and value proposition, as it relates to the pain points or goals this department and company are solving for. (I suggest emailing rather than sending a DM - though if you can't find the email do send a DM.)
3- Attach your high quality resume that highlights your brand, skills, and achievements, specifically focused on the results and outcomes you've had.
4- If they don't respond, don't sweat it. Just try again with the next company.
This just happened to another client of mine! If you aren't having luck landing your next role - try this approach. And don't give up if it doesn't work the first, second, or third time you try it. It may be the 10th try...
Thank you for sharing this success story! It's a great reminder to be bold and step forward!
This tactic may not always work successfully and that is ok. Wishing her all the success in her new role.
Nice to hear a successful networking story!
