Any advice for workplace bullying?

it took several months-- I was actually on my way out before Covid hit and then the two jobs I was up for were pulled. This was a case of managers were charmed by someone who was all talk with nothing behind it in terms of education and experience. Other colleagues who were very skilled couldn't stand it and started leaving. But top management stood right by their gal. One staffer who had nothing to lose anymore asked his boss who the heck thought she was right for this role. I got on her bad side when the director of our section called out my work during a meeting and said in front of everyone that he was impressed with how I project I ran was panning out. That same day, rather than say, hey, staffer great job, she turned up the heat on me about needing to let me know about every little thing I was working on so she could properly vet it. Sigh. I was doomed there. It was a shame because I loved the role and it was a good fit. I'll tell you, on some level, I did want to stay because it was a very hard job to land and I had more to do there. But the pandemic and having a lot of resources cut and duties limited pretty much made the decision for me. There wasn't much to stand by anymore. I remember the glee in her face when a manager said certain projects, including mine, would be on hold until Covid was over. She could barely contain her smirk. A few months later, she moved mountains for one of her darlings. Yup, this stuff is personal.

I am very amazed by your courage, this is truly brave and I am starting to feel like no job is unique and they're all replaceable in a sense. That sounds mean, but - if you can find the same job in a better environment, why not?
