Yesterday was one of the most inspiring day in 2019 for me; as part of the judge team in the Danish STEM Entrepreneurship Award, I met with more than 3500 young Ladies from all around the country. They presented their STEM ideas which ranged from devices to hold blood pipettes to improve the work space for the blood analysts to DigniEat who pitched smart and elegant cutlery for people recovering from strokes.
It's amazing and uplifting to see so many young students (and many of them female) being passionate and enthusiastic about STEM innovation and I truly enjoyed being able to provide advise and feedback to them and hopefully inspire them to continue on the STEM path.
The photo below is the winning Team in the LifeTech category; these 3 amazing young Ladies pitched a new App and a tiny device, where you can sign up to be a “runner” for young females in distress; a person in distress or danger can through the tiny device send an alert signal to people in their proximity who has signed up as runners. The runners gets GPS information though their smart phones on the location of the person in need as well as other runners who have responded to the alert. 1 in 20 have been exposed to assaults, and this invention could prevent some of the assaults for happening by getting people to help fast.
