      Managing Director, Information Technology

What do you do at Mizuho?
My team focuses on improving efficiencies within IT through automation and process improvements. We own a variety of platforms from the development through support and ensure they are meeting the needs of the business.

      What surprised you about Mizuho?
I was most surprised on how much we’re able to accomplish within the time frames and resource constraints all businesses face.

What are Mizuho's culture and people like?
Mizuho's culture is friendly, encouraging and open. After four years, it feels like a family.

What’s the first thing you read every day?
      My email and BBC News.

How is Mizuho different from other places you've worked?
Mizuho allows you to work on projects in all different areas. It also takes care of employees through upward movement or other benefits, such as learning and development opportunities.

What’s something you’ve learned from another culture?
I learn from all cultures. We have to understand how cultures impact everyone's thought process, actions and decisions.

      Joy Ferrer
      Director, Syndicated Finance

What do you do at Mizuho?
I am part of a team that is responsible for supporting multiple business promotion units for secondary trade closings and third party agency reviews. I also prepare and maintain various reports for different departments, as well as coordinate audits and compliance requirements.

What are Mizuho's culture and people like?
Mizuho promotes a collaborative environment where people can flourish and be successful as individuals and as a team. Mizuho cares about its people. It takes the time to educate and train you to make sure that you reach your full potential. I also like the friendliness and openness of the people that I work with on a daily basis. You can go to anyone, ask them a question, and they’re always willing to help you out.

How is Mizuho different from other places you've worked?
I previously worked at another financial institution, where you have to figure things out without guidance. However, at Mizuho, they really invest in you by offering programs to help you grow your role.

What’s a particularly proud moment you’ve had here?
I’ve managed a tremendous number of loan closings, contributed significantly to a major deal which required closing 400 trades, efficiently settled 600+ primary and secondary trades, closed 700+ third party agency assignments, and assisted in KYC registration for the onboarding of 500+ accounts.

What’s something you’ve learned from another culture?
It’s easy to question and judge cultures that are different than yours. I’ve learned to be patient and more open-minded. Interact with local people, eat local food and learn their customs/traditions are ways that I’ve experienced and appreciate fully.

      Natalee Graham
      Managing Director, Compliance

What do you do at Mizuho?
I’m a Compliance Officer, focusing primarily on the Fixed Income business. Additional responsibilities included Swap Dealer Compliance coverage and Volcker Rule implementation and compliance coverage.

How is Mizuho different from other places you've worked?
The most pleasant surprise about Mizuho was the collegiality within the institution. Each employee treats his/her fellow colleagues with the utmost respect, regardless of title or seniority.

What’s a particularly proud moment you’ve had here?
I was awarded the Mizuho President's Special Achievement Award in 2015.

What’s one thing you've learned while at Mizuho or in the industry?
Your personal brand and reputation is very important as it will often precede you in your interaction with others in the industry.
