"If you enjoy working with people who only care about gossip, drama, free lunch, management who don’t listen to their staff and will underpay you, NASC is for you! During my one year here I saw about ten people up and quit because this place is so intolerable. Going to management with any kind of issue is pointless, as you’ll be told you’re “just being overemotional” or that you “must have a lot going on in your personal life,” when you’re actually bringing forth suggestions and safety concerns for a better work environment. HR is about the same. Constantly either overstaffed or understaffed with no good reason at all. It’s like management doesn’t bother to look at the patient census in order to schedule their staff. Doctors and OR staff walk on water, while PACU and everyone else are micromanaged every second of the day and treated like the company peasants. So I guess if you’re an OR nurse it might be a good gig? I can only speak to PACU. The drama levels are absolutely INSANE. It’s like a time warp back to high school where the bullies run the show, including upper management. No accommodations with scheduling as far as the PACU manager goes, and don’t ever expect fair pay or a raise of any kind. The condescending ways that the PACU management addresses the staff (even in front of patients) is absolutely humiliating. Oh and once you leave, don’t expect anyone to be your reference because they hold grudges in the most unprofessional ways I’ve ever seen in my life. So yes, if you like working with a bunch of children and being retaliated against, go work for NASC! On a final note, patient safety is the lowest priority. Profit is number one! Patient with a blood pressure of 220 over 110 rolls onto the operating table vs. going to the ER because who cares if the patient is a walking stroke…they need the money!"
