"If you are a young, white and pretty woman, it is a fantastic place. I've noticed most of the senior leaders are men and they greatly enjoy working with pretty young white ladies. However, I've seen women in their 50s+ who have been treated deplorably. As soon as a gray hair appears, women are constantly asked when they will retire, and are passed over for promotions. I have also seen very terrible things occur to women who get pregnant. They are denied terms overseas--which should not be the case. But I guess international CDC views pregnancies as a sort of disease."

"Flexibility is based on your hiring manager. I know some who just have to come into work 2 days a pay period or (2 out of 10 days). Others are not allowed to telework at all. Your CDC experience is entirely dependent on your supervisor."

"Current manager is great. Last manager was a demon from hell. I had to go to therapy for several years and was suicidal. My last manager went out of his way to undermine my work, steal my projects, and prevent me from promotions or leaving to find another position. If you choose to work at the CDC, PLEASE look into your manager to make sure he or she is not a complete utter piece of psychopathic garbage."

"My current manager is fantastic. However my prior one was terrible. He would not offer support and was quick to criticize. Higher level managers do not want to get involved in disputes. You are on your own if there is trouble. I'd recommend working here if you know you will have a good boss."
